Summary

Chase walks through a 7-level maturity model for using Claude Code as a personal marketing engine. The thesis: tools change weekly so they aren’t the bottleneck, taste is. The two highest-leverage levels are getting voice locked in via a brand voice doc and turning a normal ideation/research workflow into a stack of Claude skills.

Key Insight

  • The bottleneck is taste, not tools. Stop chasing the latest MCP, the prompts and templates outlive the tool of the month.
  • Level 1 trap: telling the model to “sound less like AI” or “make a better hook”. Doesn’t fix anything. Recognising AI tells (Wikipedia has a long list) is itself a skill.
  • Level 2, voice doc: a single markdown with mission, tone guidelines, words to never use, words on brand, plus 3-5 (max 10) reference posts. More examples = context rot, not better results. Bootstrapping: paste 5-10 posts you wish you’d written, ask Claude to fill out the template. Re-feed top-performing posts back into it weekly.
  • Level 3, ideation as a skill: identify where the “fountainhead” lives (Twitter/GitHub for tech, studies for fitness, etc), then dictate the manual workflow into Claude Code via stream-of-consciousness and ask it to turn it into skills using the Skill Creator. Claude Code creates better skills than humans do.
  • Level 4, multimodal via JSON prompt templates: feed any reference image to a “JSON prompt generator” skill, get a structured prompt back, then edit it in natural language to keep style consistent across carousel slides/videos. Build a fleet of 30+ proven JSON templates rather than one-shotting from scratch.
  • Level 5, content cascade: one YouTube video to blog to Twitter thread to LinkedIn to short-form ideas via per-platform voice variant skills. Don’t reuse the same voice doc across platforms verbatim, clone and tweak per platform.
  • Level 6, schedule + automate (cron, /schedule, routines). Always insert a human taste checkpoint, approve slide 1 before generating 2-6.
  • Level 7, fully autonomous AI avatar farms (Heygen-style 6-8 long videos/day). Tech isn’t there yet for video; works for text only (Amazon had to cap KDP uploads/day because of this). Damages personal brand long-term.
  • Posting itself should never be automated unless human eyes have approved the deliverable.
  • Most people get stuck at level 1. Levels 2 and 3 alone put you ahead of around 90%.
